Our

Mission & Values

Our mission and values serve as the guiding principles for everything we do for the community. We are committed to delivering exceptional services, while also upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and social responsibility.

Who are we?

Founded in 1993, ACP Foundation (formerly known as the Association of Chinese Professionals, Dallas / Fort Worth) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization registered in the state of Texas. With 1,200 members from Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, HK, Macau and the U.S., ACP has built its membership across a broad spectrum of professional fields, many with advanced degrees. Excelling in science/technology, business/finance, medicine, education/culture and professional services, our members won recognition for their leadership roles and impact in their academic, managerial and entrepreneurial endeavors.

ACP promotes a prosperous Chinese community and U.S.-China cultural exchange in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. The high-quality and popular community-building program includes the annual Chinese New Year Banquet and the Mid-Autumn Festival Cultural Performance. These events became the focal point for the local Chinese community to appreciate their cultural heritage and strengthen community ties. Typically these popular performances drew a large audience including dignitaries from civic and political leadership at local and state level.

ACP also coordinated effort between the U.S. and China in a number of charity initiatives. Immediately after the May 2008 Sichuan Earthquake, ACP led a disaster relief effort in coalition with Chinese American civic and education organizations. The charity drive netted $227,000 donation, which was split between remittance to the Chinese Red Cross and a $150,000 sponsorship for rebuilding a destroyed elementary school in Sichuan. During the SARS epidemic in May 2003, ACP raised fund and shipped much-needed 10,000 medical masks to the Greater China region. Shortly after 911, ACP joined charity effort and held performances to raise fund for victim’s families in a show of support.

With an annual program to address members’ professional interests, ACP hosted regular seminars on investment, education, science/technology, U.S.-China trade and business/entrepreneurship and held sports contests. Since the 1990s, ACP has helped to lay the foundation for Chinese cultural and language education in DFW area. Initiatives include the founding of the first Chinese language school to teach Pin Yin and simplified Chinese characters in DFW, teaching seminar to host visiting Chinese language scholars from Beijing University, numerous Chinese language contests over the years. ACP also joined hand with several Chinese language schools in a successful petition drive with over 700 petitioning parents to add a Chinese language program to DFW-area public school curriculum. In addition, many members enjoyed participating in a variety of sports tournaments including ping-pong, basketball and dragon boat race.

Safeguarding civil rights for Chinese/Asian American is also very important for ACP’s mission. ACP organized a widely publicized protest in conjunction of many civic groups against a Plano-area bookstore for their discriminatory treatment of Asian American customers.

ACP welcomes professionals with diverse backgrounds who have strong interests in community services to join. (info@ACP-DFW.org)
