ACP Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) New Year’s Celebration
The ACP Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) New Year’s Celebration dinner party was held at Chen’s Restaurant in Plano, Texas on January 2nd, 2026. It was a big success. Over 50 people attended, including our members, alumni, guests and mentors. People from various fields gathered around tables and chatted while enjoying the delicious Chinese food.
At the beginning of the event, the host introduced each of the mentors and special guests. They shared their professional backgrounds and experiences as executives and leaders in their respective fields, offering valuable insights into their career journeys. Each table was then given opportunities to ask questions, allowing students to directly engage with the speakers. Our mentors—Mr. David Yan, Dr. Xiang Luo, and Dr. Yu Meng—along with experienced parents Ms. Jean Zhang and Ms. Songmei Wang, generously shared their wisdom and advice. They helped demystify common concerns surrounding college applications, maintaining a healthy balance between academics and life, achieving strong grades, and developing leadership opportunities. In addition, Mr. Eric Ma, a Wealth Manager at Bank of America and YLI’s Youth Financial Trainer in 2025, emphasized the importance of investing early in life and provided practical strategies for building long-term financial security.
Overall, this was a really fun experience to learn, bond, and get to know everybody who attended. It provided an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, bond with peers, and build connections with people to form lasting bonds within the community. The event successfully combined celebration, education, and the ACP community, making it a memorable start to the new year.
HB17 and SB17 Protest at zTAO marketplace
ACP Members and other organizations in our community gathered at zTAO Chinatown to speak out against the discriminatory HB17 and SB17 laws. Numerous speakers came to show their support and opposition to these laws. YLI members participated in song and in the protest around the marketplace. This moment was crucial for us to show solidarity and make our voices heard!
